Islamabad, May 9: An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter Scale struck Pakistan in the early hours of Saturday, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The tremor was recorded at 1:44 AM and originated at a depth of 10 kilometres, with its epicentre located at 29.67°N latitude and 66.10°E longitude.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, officials confirmed.
This follows a 4.2-magnitude earthquake that rattled parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan earlier on Monday. That tremor also struck at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres, a factor that often increases the likelihood of aftershocks.
Seismologists continue to monitor the region for any further seismic activity.
