Keonjhar, June 4: Meritorious tribal student Bailochan Juang on Wednesday completed the online application process for higher education with assistance from the authorities of Pateswar College at Shuakati. The application was submitted under the supervision of college principal Ramakanta Swain following directions from the Odisha Higher Education Department.
Bailochan, whose struggle to continue his studies amid financial hardship recently drew statewide attention, has applied to several premier institutions in Odisha. He has selected BJB College, Bhubaneswar as his first preference, followed by Ravenshaw University, Dharanidhar University, Bhadrak Autonomous College and Maharaja Purna Chandra College, Baripada.
After reports highlighting his difficult circumstances and his efforts to fund his education through labour work went viral, Higher Education Minister Surjyabanshi Suraj spoke to the student on Tuesday. The minister assured him of all possible support from both the state government and on a personal level to help him pursue higher studies.
The Higher Education Department had also directed the college authorities to extend necessary assistance to Bailochan during the admission process. Acting on the instructions, the college facilitated the online form submission and provided all required support.
Expressing happiness after successfully completing the application process, Bailochan said he is hopeful of securing admission to one of his preferred institutions and continuing his academic journey.
Notably, despite severe financial constraints, Bailochan emerged as a meritorious student in the Plus Two examinations and has remained determined to pursue higher education.
