Rourkela, Feb 9: In a heart-wrenching incident today, a 56-year-old Havildar of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Subash Prasad, allegedly died by suicide at the Matkamjharan CRPF camp under Lathikata police limits near Rourkela.

Subash Prasad, originally from Uttar Pradesh, was posted at the camp as part of ongoing security operations in the area. Preliminary reports suggest that family issues might have driven him to take this extreme step. It is believed that he used his service rifle to end his life early this morning within the camp premises.

On receiving the tragic news, the Lathikata police immediately reached the spot and retrieved the body. Investigations are underway to ascertain the exact reasons behind this unfortunate incident.

The CRPF camp, which was set up in October last year, was part of the heightened security measures due to increased Maoist activities in the region. The camp is situated approximately 10 km from Ramjodi in the Lathikata area.
