New Delhi, October 11: Media organizations have strongly condemned the exclusion of women journalists from a press conference hosted by Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi at the Afghan Embassy in New Delhi.
The Editors Guild of India and the Indian Women Press Corps (IWPC) labeled the move as blatantly discriminatory and unacceptable, emphasizing that diplomatic immunity under the Vienna Convention does not justify gender-based discrimination in media access on Indian soil.
In a joint statement, the Editors Guild stated, "While diplomatic missions are entitled to certain protections under the Vienna Convention, this cannot be used as a justification for overt gender discrimination in the press access granted within India."
