Baripada, Jan 5: A tragic road accident occurred on Monday at Machhakandana Ghat near Banamunda on National Highway No. 220, claiming the life of one person and leaving another critically injured.

According to sources, a trailer carrying iron plates lost control while negotiating the ghat road and overturned. The driver died on the spot due to the impact, while another occupant of the vehicle sustained serious injuries.

Local people and authorities rushed to the spot and rescued the injured person, who was initially admitted to Rairangpur Medical College. As his condition deteriorated, he was later referred to Tata Medical College for advanced treatment.

On receiving information, Jashipur police reached the accident site and launched an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the deceased driver’s body is yet to be recovered from the accident site.
