Puri, Dec 30: Puri district administration has put massive security arrangements in place in view of a huge rush of visitors to the town for New Year.
The entire town including the Shree Jagannath temple has been divided into five divisions and nine sectors. These include the perimeter of the temple, Badadanda, sea beach and other strategic places of tourist gathering, said Puri SP K Vishal Singh.
Elaborate arrangements have been made to regulate the vehicular traffic from December 31 and scores of life guards will be deployed along Puri beach to prevent drowning in sea, said Singh.
Three police outposts will operate at various places along the beach to help visitors and patrolling will also be intensified along the beach to keep an eye on mischief mongers. Police will set up a centre to get feedback from visitors and devotees about their experience and changes needed.
A portion of Badadanda from Simhadwar to Marichikot square will be notified as no vehicle zone. The district administration has made special arrangements for transportation of differently-abled, senior citizens and children to the temple for darshan. Besides, an ambulance corridor will be created to shift the sick to hospital.
