Massive fire destroys coal tar pitch factory in Sambalpur

Sambalpur, Nov 7: A huge fire broke out at a coal tar pitch factory in the Jayantpur area of the town late last night causing substantial damage to property. Even though no loss of lives was reported from the spot, the exact estimation of the destruction caused by the blaze was yet to be clear till the filing of the latest reports. As flames continued to intensify, the fire became uncontrollable with thick black smoke emerging from the building, thus creating a panic in the area. The blaze became severe and engulfed a major portion of the factory due to the presence of highly immflamble raw materials. Authorities of the plant have said that a probe has been ordered to find out the exact reason behind the mishap. On being alerted, fire tenders reached the soot and doused the flames.
