Bhubaneswar, Nov 30: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday said Odisha has emerged as one of India’s most attractive destinations for MSMEs.

Attending the closing ceremony of the Odisha Industry Summit 2025, organised by Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB) at Rail Sadan in Bhubaneswar, Majhi highlighted the pivotal role played by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in boosting industrial growth, fostering innovation, and creating employment opportunities across the state.

Describing Odisha as a state brimming with potential, Majhi said, “Odisha has emerged as one of India’s most attractive destinations for MSMEs. This progress reflects our government’s dedication to meeting the aspirations of 4.5 crore people of Odisha.”

He highlighted key reforms introduced through the “Go Swift” single-window portal, noting that industrial project approvals—which previously took up to a month—are now granted within a day.

He also stated that Odisha has invested 6.1% of its GDP in infrastructure this year, the highest percentage among Indian states.

The Chief Minister commended Laghu Udyog Bharati for supporting more than 980 industrial units, generating employment, encouraging entrepreneurship, and contributing to the vision of a self-reliant India.

“Small-scale industries are the backbone of our economy. In Odisha, seven out of every ten formal-sector jobs come from these enterprises,” he remarked.

Majhi further highlighted Odisha’s rich culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Welcoming LUB’s plan to open an office in Bhubaneswar, he said the move would strengthen collaboration between industry and government at both district and grassroots levels.

Speaking on the achievements of the state’s MSME sector, he cited international recognition earned by artisans from Pipili, Raghurajpur, Sambalpur, and Gopalpur. He also noted the increasing participation of youth in IT, animation, fintech, and startup ventures.

Women-led self-help groups (SHGs) are exporting products globally, while the Subhadra Yojana is helping rural women achieve financial independence. So far, 17 lakh households have benefited from the scheme.

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Minister Gokulananda Mallik reiterated that Odisha is progressing steadily on the path of development.

“Our emphasis on promoting indigenous products, empowering MSMEs, supporting artisans, and strengthening local supply chains will transform the state’s economic outlook in the coming years,” he said.

The event was attended by Madhusudan Dadu, All India President of Laghu Udyog Bharati; Organising Secretary Prakash Chandra; Gopal Das Agrawal, President of LUB Odisha chapter; and several other dignitaries.
