Balangir, May 16: Security forces made a major breakthrough in their fight against Maoists by finding and destroying a Maoist camp in the forests of Gandhamardan and Chhataradandi in Balangir district. Based on a tip-off, police and District Voluntary Force (DVF) teams carried out a search operation on Thursday.
During the operation, they recovered several Maoist items, including steel drums, propaganda books, pressure bombs, and tiffin bombs. They also found improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and gelatin sticks, which may have been meant for future attacks.
Balangir SP Abhilash G. said the police will continue such operations and take all necessary steps to break Maoist networks in the area. He assured that the police are working to keep the region safe and free from extremist threats.
