Salepur, Feb 25: The third preparatory meeting for the upcoming Dol Purnima was held at the Paga Phandi premises in the Souri Panchayat, Krishnapur, Salepur block of Cuttack district. The meeting was attended by several distinguished individuals, including Jagatpur Police Station's IIC Prashant Kumar Sasmal, members of the temple trust board, and chariot (Dol) owners.

The primary objective of the meeting was to ensure the peaceful celebration of Dol Jatra, just like every year. Authorities have urged Dol vehicle owners to strictly follow a set of rules and regulations designed to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the event.

In light of last year’s tragic incident in Jagatpur, where three people lost their lives due to illegal firecracker explosions, the police have imposed stricter regulations on fireworks. Fireworks have been banned, and the police will conduct regular checks to enforce the ban. Dol vehicle owners have been instructed to obtain prior permission for the procession. It was also clarified that the use of DJs, fireworks, laser lights, sticks, and rods would not be permitted during the event.

Additionally, the organizers have been instructed to maintain a 50-meter distance between the vehicles and refrain from any obscene dance performances. The meeting underscored the importance of adhering to the High Court's directives, ensuring that no illegal activities are carried out under the guise of tradition.

The administration has strongly warned that any violations of these rules will lead to strict legal actions against offenders. The meeting concluded with a call to all participants, including vehicle owners, villagers, devotees, and trust board members, to uphold the law and ensure that the festival is celebrated in a disciplined and respectful manner.
