Cuttack, Feb 10: Another ailing elephant has been reportedly straying near the Narasinghpur village under the Athagarh Forest Division in Odisha's Cuttack since a couple of days, said sources.

The officials, on being informed tracked the pachyderm and reported it to be normal in health.

According to report, locals of the Narasinghpur area spotted a tusker that was marching slowly in the forest. Despite a massive disturbance caused by a crowd, it showed no spectacular reaction and remained yet standstill at a point.

Following this, the locals informed the Narsinghpur East Forest Range officials, who rushed to the spot to take stock of the matter. During inspection, the jumbo was found to be normal. Meanwhile, the forest officials denied of any grievous injury in the tusker’s body.

The pachyderm normally frequents in the area during its transition to the Hindol Forest Range in Dhenkanal. However, it will be under elephant trackers’ surveillance, to ascertain its health condition, said a forest official deployed on the spot.
