Berhampur, Aug 19: In a shocking incident, a man and his transgender wife allegedly killed their father following a family feud in Ayodhya Nagar lane-3 under Baidyanathpur police limits in Berhampur.
The deceased has been identified as Gariba Bandhu Panda (75), a retired government employee.
According to the information, the accused Sandeep Panda and his transgender wife Shreya alias Prabin Kumar were staying with Gariba Bandhu for the last three months. Earlier, Sandeep was working as an engineer in Mumbai where he came in contact with Shreya, a resident of Shivajinagar under Kalawa police limits of Maharastra’s Thane. Sandeep’s wife had left him after she came to know about his relationship with a transgender.
On August 15, Sandeep and Shreya in an inebriated condition abused Gariba Bandhu and threw table fan and an almirah to the elderly man. Following the attack, Gariba Bandhu succumbed on the spot. On August 16, they took him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital and attempted to give the murder an accident angle.
Meanwhile, police have arrested the two accused and sent the body for post-mortem.
According to Berhampur Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), the accused and his transgender wife assaulted their father after the latter denied giving them his ATM card.
