Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Leader of the Opposition (LoP) and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President Naveen Patnaik, and Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo expressed their heartfelt condolences over the death of former Sambalpur MLA and renowned physician, Dr. Raseswari Panigrahi.

Dr. Panigrahi, aged 79, passed away at her residence in Shanti Nagar, Sambalpur district, at 8:50 pm on Monday after battling serious neurological complications for the past three years. Her attending physician, Dr. Kabir Das Purohit, confirmed that her health had deteriorated significantly since Sunday evening.

In a message posted on social media platform X, Chief Minister Majhi said, “I am deeply saddened to learn about the passing of senior leader, former MLA of Sambalpur, and eminent physician Dr. Raseswari Panigrahi. My condolences to the bereaved family, and I pray to Lord Shree Jagannath for the peace of her departed soul. Om Shanti.”

Naveen Patnaik, the LoP and BJD president, also mourned her passing, writing, “I am saddened to learn about the passing of former Sambalpur MLA Dr. Raseswari Panigrahi. Her work as a public representative and healthcare provider will always be remembered by the people. I pray for the eternal peace of her soul and extend my condolences to the bereaved family members.”

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo remembered her as a “distinguished physician and a dedicated leader for Sambalpur.” He posted on X, “I am deeply saddened to hear of her demise. I pray for the eternal peace of her soul and express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family. Om Shanti.”

Dr. Raseswari Panigrahi was widely respected for both her contributions to politics as a public representative and her invaluable service in the medical field. Her death marks the end of a significant chapter in Sambalpur's public life, leaving behind a lasting legacy of service and dedication to the community.
