Bhawanipatna, Aug 12: Bhawanipatna police on Saturday arrested a teacher and his son in connection with a fake certificate case in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.
The accused teacher and his Dak Sevak son have been identified as Padmananha Mahananda and Prabhat Mahananda of Goipita village under Bhawanipatna police limits in the district.
They have been sent to jail after their arrest.
According to the information, Padmanabha was providing fake certificates to job aspirants in exchange for a huge amount of money. His son was also appointed to the Dak Sevak post by furnishing fake certificates.
The duo came to fore following the certificate verification of Prabhat Mahananda who was also among one of the newly recruited candidates for the Gamin Dak Sevak posts in Kalahandi district. During the verification by Board of Secondary Education (BSE), it was found that the matric certificate furnished by Prabhat Mahananda is fake.
A complaint in this regard was lodged by Bhawanipatna post office with Bhawanipatna police. Police started investigation and it was found that the father of Prabhat has been involved in the fake certificate racket.
