Koraput, Oct 12: Police on Tuesday arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife after she failed to serve food to him on time.
The accused has been identified as Bhagat Harijan from Puruna Borigumma locality, in a fit of rage beaten his wife with a wooden stick leading to her death.
The incident occurred at Dangaguda village under Town police limits in Jeypore district.
The deceased woman was identified as 63-year-old Kusuma Paraja, who was Bhagat’s second wife.
Sources said, after a little bit of delay in serving the lunch, the man indulged in an altercation with the victim. Things took an ugly turn when, in a fit of rage, the Bhagat attacked his wife with a wooden plank on the woman’s head. Meanwhile, the woman sustained severe injuries and succumbed.
Then after, the accused covered her body with a blanket and fled from the crime spot.
During the investigation, the accused confessed to his crime, police said.
Worth mentioning, Bhagat had also killed his first wife about 15 years ago.
