Hyderabad, Sept 14: In a shocking turn of events, a man allegedly killed his three-year-old ailing son and dumped his body in the Musi River in Hyderabad.
The accused has been identified as Mohammed Akbar (35), a vegetable seller. The incident occurred on Friday night in the Bandlaguda area of Chandrayangutta, but it only came to light the following day after the accused confessed to the crime.
According to reports, Akbar, a vegetable seller, confessed to killing his younger son, Mohammed Anas, and dumping the body into the Musi River from the Nayapul Bridge. The child had reportedly been unwell, and frequent arguments between Akbar and his wife, Sana Begum, over the child’s condition are believed to have contributed to the tragedy.
After learning about the incident, police, assisted by HYDRAA and the Disaster Response Force (DRF), are currently searching for the child's body.
While Sana Begum, a hospital caretaker, was away for her shift on Friday night, Akbar strangled Anas to death with a pillow. He then wrapped the body in a bag, and dumped it into the river from the Nayapul Bridge.
Akbar later filed a missing person report with the police, claiming that his son had gone missing. He told authorities that his relatives, who had taken Anas to their home, called him to say they had dropped the child near his house, but Anas was nowhere to be found.
Police became suspicious after reviewing Akbar’s mobile phone, which revealed no incoming calls. They also examined CCTV footage near his home, which showed him leaving early in the morning with a bag. Upon further interrogation, Akbar eventually confessed to the crime.
Following this, the cops registered a case and arrested Akbar.
Although the search for the child's body in the Musi River began on Saturday evening, it was not found. The search resumed on Sunday morning, with HYDRAA and DRF personnel continuing their efforts.
