Leh, Jan 02: Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta on Friday announced that Aditya Dhar’s directorial Dhurandhar has been declared tax-free in the Union Territory, citing the film’s extensive shooting across Ladakh and its showcasing of the region’s breathtaking landscapes.

Gupta said the Ladakh Administration is in the process of framing a new Film Policy and will extend full support to filmmakers choosing the region as a shooting destination.

Announcing the decision on X, the Office of the Lieutenant Governor stated, “Lt Governor Shri @KavinderGupta declares Bollywood film Dhurandhar tax-free in UT #Ladakh. Shot extensively in the region, the film highlights Ladakh’s cinematic landscapes, signalling strong support for filmmakers and reinforcing the UT’s push to emerge as a preferred destination for film shoots and tourism. The Administration is also working on a New Film Policy and will provide full support to film productions in Ladakh.”

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film has emerged as one of the biggest releases of 2025, offering a strong year-end finish for Bollywood. Starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, the film also features Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan in pivotal roles.

Made in two parts, the first instalment revolves around a decade-long Indian intelligence operation, following an undercover agent who infiltrates Karachi’s criminal and political underworld. Dhurandhar was released on December 5 and continues to run successfully in theatres.
