Sambalpur, 27 Jan: A new industrial revolution has begun in Odisha. The state is moving forward with nearly ₹20 lakh crore in industrial proposals for new industry establishments.

 Once these become operational, around 15 lakh new jobs will be created, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said today while inaugurating India’s first Flat Rolled Products (FRP) aluminium unit at Hindalco Industries Limited’s Aditya Aluminium plant at Lapanga in Sambalpur district.

The project, set up with an investment of ₹26,996crore, is expected to generate employment for 5012 people, further strengthening downstream manufacturing and creating new livelihood opportunities in the region.

The inauguration was attended by Suresh Pujari, Hon’ble Minister, Revenue & Disaster Management, Government of Odisha; Sampad Chandra Swain, Hon’ble Minister, Industries & Skill Development & Technical Education, Government of Odisha;  Jay Narayan Mishra, Hon’ble MLA, Sambalpur ; Sudarshan Haripal, Hon’ble MLA, Rengali; Hemant Sharma, ACS to Government, Industries, Home, and I&PR Departments, Government of Odisha; along with the district administration, senior officials of the Government of Odisha, and authorities of Hindalco Industries Limited.

Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Chief Minister said, “Western Odisha today stands as a symbol of confidence, discipline and enterprise transforming from forests and farmlands into a hub of world-class manufacturing.”

He further said, “Workers are the real architects of Odisha’s industrial success. Their dedication ensures that production never stops and progress never slows.”

The Hon’ble Chief Minister added, “Development is not measured only by investments or announcements, but by real change in people’s lives jobs for youth, security for families, and better education and healthcare.”

He said, “Western Odisha is emerging as a global industrial hub where world-class investment meets people-centric development. Our focus is to create jobs close to home, strengthen MSMEs, promote value-added and green manufacturing, and ensure that when industry grows, every family, every village and every youth grows with it.”

He also appealed, “I request you all to welcome industries with open arms and in action, because industry is a key foundation of our prosperous future.”

Later in the day, the Hon’ble Chief Minister inaugurated the 25th edition of CII Enterprise Odisha Exhibition 2026 at Rourkela. In this expo, leading companies from across sectors are showcasing their capabilities, innovations, and industrial growth stories.

Enterprise Odisha is a flagship industry platform aimed at showcasing Odisha’s industrial capabilities and investment opportunities.

The Expo inaugural evening featured a cultural programme and 1st drone show of Rourkela, showcasing the rich cultural heritage, social life, and industrial progress of Western Odisha.

The twin events reaffirm the Government of Odisha’s commitment to employment-led industrialisation, regional balance, MSME participation and sustainable industrial growth, positioning Western Odisha as a key driver of Odisha’s and India’s economic future.

The day’s engagements highlighted the Government of Odisha’s focused approach towards accelerating industrial growth in Western Odisha through large investments, employment generation, MSME participation and sustainable manufacturing. With major projects inaugurated, new investments facilitated and direct industry engagement through Enterprise Odisha 2026, Western Odisha is steadily emerging as a key growth engine in Odisha’s and India’s industrial development journey.

On the second day, during the inaugural session of the 25th Enterprise Odisha 2026 at Rourkela, the Hon’ble Chief Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for multiple projects in Western Odisha. He will also participate in sectoral roundtable discussions and B2G meetings, reflecting the Government’s continued commitment to the western Odisha’s development.
