Prime Minister Modi unveils major high-speed transit projects today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is officially launching significant transit upgrades in western Uttar Pradesh today. During a special event in Meerut, he will flag off both the new local transit system and the highly anticipated Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat train. This massive infrastructure push includes development projects valued at nearly ₹12,930 crore.

Massive Transit Boost For Commuters

Starting his visit at the Shatabdi Nagar station around 12:30 PM, Modi will initiate the transit services before taking a personal ride down to Meerut South. Following this journey, he plans to address a public gathering to formally dedicate these multi-billion rupee public welfare initiatives to the nation.

Details Of High Speed Rail Corridors

Passengers will now benefit from the fully completed 82-kilometre Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). Today's inauguration opens the final pending stretches, which encompass a 5-kilometre route connecting New Ashok Nagar to Sarai Kale Khan in the capital, alongside a 21-kilometre segment running from Meerut South up to Modipuram.

Capable of hitting top speeds of 180 km per hour, this pioneering rail network drastically cuts down travel times between Delhi and crucial urban hubs like Ghaziabad, Sahibabad, and Modinagar.

Crucial Transport Hubs Now Operational

Four vital stations are officially opening their doors to the public. Sarai Kale Khan stands out as the primary originating terminal. This specific location serves as an integrated transport hub, linking passengers directly to the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, the local ISBT, and the Pink Line of the capital's metro. Begumpul, Shatabdi Nagar, and Modipuram make up the remaining three stops being commissioned today in the Meerut district.

Chief Minister Hails Historic Milestone

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared his excitement on the social media platform X, calling today's events a revolutionary step for the region. He emphasized that these modern connectivity projects represent a golden chapter in the ongoing development of the state. Adityanath warmly welcomed the Prime Minister, noting that this integrated urban transport model sets a benchmark for the rest of the country.
