Man electrocuted, agitation brews over compensation in Kandhamal

Kandhamal, Sep 11: A man has been electrocuted at Mahasingh village under Baliguda police limit in Kandhamal on Saturday. Locals have agitated over the incident and staged a road blockade demanding compensation to the deceased family. The deceased has been identified as Udhab Bindhani of Mahasingh. Sources said, Udhab was cutting a branch of a tree in the morning. Meanwhile, the branch came in contact with the live 33 KV wire. As a result, he was burnt alive. {"id":135627,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} Being informed, locals staged a road blockade on NH 59 keeping the body on road and demanded an ex-gratia worth 10 lakh. District officials rushed to the spot and tried to appease the mob. However, the agitation is continuing so far as they remained firm on the demand.
