Sundargarh, Jan 10: In the age of social media, viral videos are shaping new trends every day. Adding to this growing list is a unique and inspiring video of women playing football while wearing sarees, which has taken social media by storm.
The video showcases women proving that they are no less capable than men. Dressed in traditional sarees, they are seen running at remarkable speed on the field and scoring goal after goal, challenging stereotypes and demonstrating that determination matters more than attire.
The viral visuals are from the Badabaliyora playground under Soyamba Panchayat in Koida block, a Maoist-affected and tribal-dominated region. Despite the challenges of living in a remote area, the women have turned sports into a source of joy and empowerment.
According to sources, the women of the area collectively save small amounts of money every year to organize sporting events among themselves. These events include football, running races, puchi, kabaddi, and other competitions, with prizes distributed within the group.
Their initiative to step away from daily routines and find happiness through sports has drawn widespread appreciation, highlighting a powerful example of community spirit and women’s empowerment from a remote region.
