Man arrested for opening fire in Jatni, pistol seized

Bhubaneswar, Sep 1: Jatni police today arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly opening fire over monetary dispute at Padanpur on August 26. The victim identified as Ranka Rout had sustained bullet injury on his right leg during the incident. Police said that the accused Kiran Kumar Swain was nabbed on Thursday. Police have seized a pistol and two rounds of live bullets from the accused. Police said that the accused had enmity with the victim over monetary dispute. “The accused went to a betel shop where Rout was sitting and later opened fire at him. The accused escaped from the spot after committing the crime. We are further verifying the antecedent of the accused,” said a police official.
