Kolkata, December 7: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee voiced her dissatisfaction with the current leadership and coordination within the bloc.

In an interview with a television channel, She remarked, “I had formed the INDIA bloc, but now it is up to the leaders of the front to manage it. If they are unable to run the show, there’s little I can do. I would simply say that everyone needs to be included.”

When asked why she had not assumed direct control of the alliance, Banerjee explained, “If given the opportunity, I would ensure its smooth functioning. I don’t want to step out of West Bengal, but I can manage it from here.” Her statement sparked speculation about her possible leadership of the INDIA bloc, which she helped establish as a counter to the BJP’s influence.

On the other hand, Trinamool Congress (TMC) spokesperson Kunal Ghosh quickly sought to downplay these speculations, stressing that Banerjee was not pursuing personal ambition. “She never made any such claim,” Ghosh said, adding that Banerjee had only acknowledged her role in founding the INDIA alliance, which she sees as a vital force against the BJP. He further clarified that her priority remains West Bengal, and Banerjee is not seeking a leadership position in Delhi. However, Ghosh mentioned that if the INDIA bloc requested her leadership, she would be willing to step up from Kolkata.
