Bhubaneswar, Mar 15: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was discharged from Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial (SSKM) Hospital in Kolkata after receiving preliminary treatment as tests confirmed her stable condition.
Banerjee was initially admitted to Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial (SSKM) Hospital in Kolkata and later transferred to the Bangur Institute of Neurosciences at the IPGME&R – SSKM Hospital Centre for further treatment.
The hospital director said that doctors put three stitches on her forehead and another on her nose.
"Our chairperson @MamataOfficial sustained a major injury. Please keep her in your prayers," the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) posted on its social media account.
Dr. Manimoy Bandopadhyay, director of SSKM Hospital, stated, "The Chief Minister of West Bengal was admitted to our hospital today around 07:30 pm after a fall near her residence, allegedly due to being pushed from behind. She suffered a cerebral concussion and sustained a sharp cut on her forehead and nose, causing significant bleeding."
“Initially, she was assessed by HoD neurosurgery, HoD medicine, and the cardiologist of our institute and is vital so had stabilized. Three stitches were applied on the forehead and one on the nose and the required dressing was done. Investigations like ECG, CT scan, etc were done. Medical personnel have provided their opinion in these regards. She was advised to remain admitted for observation, but she preferred to go home. She will continue to be under close watch and will continue to have the treatment as per the advice of the team of doctors. She will again be assessed on Friday and subsequent treatment will be decided accordingly…,” he added.
West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose also visited the hospital, stating, "I visited for personal confirmation from the doctors. They assured me that everything was under control. The CM is receiving top-notch medical care, and the situation is being managed effectively."
