Mallikarjun Kharge Criticizes Centre Over NEET Paper Leak Controversy

Jaipur, May 11:Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday sharply criticized the Centre, alleging irregularities in the NEET examination and describing the system under Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “symbol of disorder, distrust, and chaos.”

In a post on X, Kharge highlighted that NEET papers have reportedly leaked on multiple occasions in recent years, specifically in 2016, 2021, 2024, and 2026. He pointed to allegations from Sikar in Rajasthan, where a handwritten “guess paper” circulated before the exam allegedly contained questions that closely matched the actual NEET paper.

Kharge’s post read, “The examination system under the Modi government has become a complete symbol of disorder, distrust, and chaos. At least four NEET papers have leaked so far—2026, 2024, 2021, 2016. In Sikar, Rajasthan, a handwritten ‘guess paper’ existed before the exam, of which 135 questions directly matched the NEET paper. It was being sold openly, yet the central government claims ignorance.”

The Congress chief accused the government of putting “millions of students’ futures at risk” and alleged that the ruling party is “shielding the paper leak mafia.” He further added, “Toying with the future of millions of youth has become a habit for the BJP. This incompetent government doesn’t provide jobs, manipulates recruitment exams, protects the paper-leak mafia, and once caught, focuses on cover-ups.”

Kharge’s comments come amid an ongoing probe by the Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group (SOG) into alleged malpractice linked to NEET. Officials revealed that a “guess paper” containing around 410 questions is under investigation, with nearly 120 questions reportedly matching the Chemistry section of the actual exam. Additional Director General of Police Vishal Bansal said the document had been circulating among students weeks before the exam, but clarified that the investigation is in its early stages, and no arrests have yet been made.

Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) addressed the allegations, confirming that the NEET (UG) 2026 exam held on May 3 was conducted under strict security measures. In an X post, the agency noted that question papers were transported in GPS-tracked vehicles with unique watermarks, examination halls were monitored via AI-assisted CCTV from a central control room, biometric verification was conducted for all candidates, and 5G jammers were in place.

The NTA added that it received reports of alleged malpractice on May 7, which were forwarded to central agencies for verification the next day. “NTA will not pre-judge the inquiry… whatever the agencies determine will be disclosed as per procedure,” the agency stated. ( ANI)
