At least 17 people were affected by diarrhoea in the village on Wednesday. While nine of them have been admitted to Mathili sub-divisional hospital, four are undergoing treatment in the village by the special medical team.

The patients are being administered saline and have been given medicines. The situation in the village is under control and drinking water tanker has reached the village, said Swain adding that with five more persons complaining of diarrhea the number of affected persons rose to 17 on Thursday.
We suspect contaminated water from a tube well in the village might have made the locals sick. Food and water samples from the village have been collected and will be sent to a laboratory for testing. A clear picture will be emerged only after the test results are obtained, he added.
