Bhubaneswar, Aug 26: A male cub born to lioness Bijili died at Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Worth mentioning, the male cub born to the lioness Bijili had died of illness. Bijili had given birth to four cubs two months before. Sources said the cub that died today was under treatment for past few days due to fever and dullness. The lion population at the zoo stands at 22.
Worth mentioning, Nandankanan drew world attention in July 2000 after 13 Bengal tigers died, eight of them within a few hours. In 2017, five tiger cubs died of hunger at Nandankanan after they were abandoned by their mother.
Nandankanan is known globally as one of the major zoos to host white tigers. It is the first zoo in India with a white tiger safari.
