Bhubaneswar, Aug 22: Make the Dharanidhar University(DD University) Keonjhar self-sufficient within two years, said Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday.
While reviewing the infrastructure development of the DD University which was upgraded from DD College in 2023,the CM urged the concerned official to allocating necessary funds from the District Mineral Fund (DMF) and Odisha Mineral Bearing Area Development Corporation (OMBADC) for renovation. He advised preserving the old building and creating a comprehensive master plan.
In a high-level meeting convened in this connection in the Lok Seva Bhawan , the Chief Minister emphasized the need for at least six new six-storey hostels, as existing ones are outdated and in deplorable condition. He also ordered the filling of key positions, including controller of examination, registrar, and controller of finance in the varsity soon.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Nikunj Bihari Dhal, Higher Education Commissioner-cum-Secretary Arvind Agarwal, Dharanidhar University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Pratap Kumar Mohanty, and Keonjhar District Collector Vishal Singh via video conference.
Apart from it, Majhi instructed the Keonjhar District Collector to evict illegal land encroachments, rehabilitate affected parties, and allocate an additional patch of land for the university’s futuristic expansions.
