Sitapur(UP), Feb 6: In a shocking case of dowry harassment and marital fraud, a man was marrying for the third time despite having two wives, alive.

The fraudulent bid of the man was ultimately foiled by his married partner(2nd wife), who wreaked a rampage on the marriage altar.

The incident came to light in the Maholi police station area of Sitapur on Friday.

While the divorce from the first wife and dowry harassment case related to the second wife is pending in the court, the young man was taking to the third marriage.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and detained the accused along with his fiancee.

According to reports, Vipin, a resident of Maholi, was first married to Neetu, a resident of Hardoi. The second marriage was with Anupam, a resident of Hirapur Ganj in Machhrehta police station area. But later the two got divorced. The victim has alleged that after a few days of marriage, her in-laws started demanding Rs 4 lakh as dowry and started torturing her both mentally and physically.

According to the family, despite the expenses in the marriage, the daughter did not get respect in the in-laws. The situation became so bad that the victim had to return home just ten days after the marriage. Since 2021, the case related to dowry harassment and harassment is pending in the court.

Meanwhile, on February 5, the victim came to know that her husband was getting ready to get married for the third time at Sanskar Guest House in Maholi police station area. After receiving the information, the victim reached Maholi police station and a joint team immediately raided the guest house, where the accused was found busy in the wedding rituals.

Police arrested him from the marriage alter and remanded him to judicial custody, on the charges of duping a number of women and breaching laws, being an accused under the Dowry Turture Act.

The victim woman on his complaint alleged that if she did not reach on time, the accused would have received the third wife.

She said that despite the case being pending in the court, the law is being openly ignored by the husband.

The police said, so far no written complaint has been filed in the matter and action will be taken after receiving the report and the investigation into the matter gets completed.
