Bhubaneswar, March 10: Odisha's Chief Secretary, Anu Garg, today chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan to evaluate the availability and supply of LPG (cooking gas), petrol, and diesel in the state. This comes in response to recent national concerns over fuel stockpiles and global fluctuations in oil markets.

The meeting included Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, along with senior officials from major oil marketing companies, including AOCL, HPCL, and BPCL. Representatives from the oil companies assured that there is an adequate stock of LPG, petrol, and diesel in the state, and that supplies from refineries and depots to distributors, retail outlets, educational institutions, and hospitals remain uninterrupted.

Chief Secretary Garg urged the public not to panic or hoard fuel, emphasizing that there is no cause for concern as adequate quantities are available across Odisha. She also directed the oil companies to maintain a steady supply chain and ensure smooth delivery to all points of consumption.

To ensure transparency and address any misinformation, the Chief Secretary instructed the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, along with the oil companies, to regularly update the media and inform the public about fuel stock positions. Additionally, oil companies have been instructed to submit daily reports to the department regarding fuel availability, including updates shared with the Central Government.

This review comes amid rumors of fuel shortages in the state, which authorities have repeatedly dismissed as unfounded. The government reaffirmed its commitment to providing a stable and reliable supply of essential fuels for households and institutions across Odisha.
