Chandigarh, March 14: In a powerful address on the importance of education in a democracy, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant highlighted that the purpose of investing in higher education goes beyond ensuring the prosperity of graduates. It is about equipping them to govern themselves with responsibility.

Speaking at the 12th convocation ceremony of the Central University of Haryana in Mahendragarh, Justice Kant emphasized that the strength and effectiveness of public institutions depend significantly on the quality of individuals who serve within them.

"Every institution of public life – be it courts, civil services, schools, hospitals, or local governance bodies – derives its excellence from the caliber of the people who choose to serve within them," he remarked.

The CJI also praised the university’s remarkable growth, pointing out that in just 17 years since its establishment, the institution has earned national accreditation, marking a significant achievement in its development and academic excellence.
