Bhubaneswar, November 3: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized that the state government is prioritizing resolving the long-standing Mahanadi river water sharing dispute with Chhattisgarh.
Addressing the media in Balangir district, CM Majhi stated, “The government is aware of the issue and emphasizing it. Discussions are on, and I have also held discussions with the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh twice after courtesy meetings.”
Highlighting the government’s proactive stance, Majhi disclosed plans to accelerate various infrastructure projects along the Mahanadi River, including barrages, dams, and anicuts, to better manage the river’s resources.
The CM reiterated his commitment to addressing concerns over water availability and assured that the ongoing discussions with the Chhattisgarh government would continue in a bid to reach a mutually beneficial solution.
This renewed focus on Mahanadi water sharing comes as a response to rising public concerns, with both states facing water management challenges.
