Bhubaneswar, Oct 1: A high-level meeting aimed at resolving the long-standing Mahanadi water dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on Thursday.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has left for Delhi to attend the meeting, which will be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai is also travelling to the national capital to participate in the discussions.

The meeting is expected to focus on the sharing of Mahanadi river water between the two states, with hopes that the talks could pave the way for a resolution to the long-running dispute.
Before leaving for Delhi, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed optimism about finding a solution. He said that since both Odisha and Chhattisgarh are governed by the BJP, his government would abide by whatever decision is reached at the meeting.
