Bhubaneswar, March 8: While thousands of devotees thronged major Shiv Shrines across the state on Friday on the Maha Shivaratri , the Dharma Vihar Jagannath Temple Premises in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar on Friday dazzled with radiant diyas to mark the cosmic unification of Lord Shiva and Shakti.
Thousands of devotees especially women offered puja and lit up sacred diyas before the Lord Shiva here and intrinsically waited to have a darshan of the Maha Deepa atop the Shiva Temple on the campus, scheduled to be performed by the midnight.
The Dharma Vihar Jagannath Temple management committee had made elaborate arrangements for the people in and around the shrine, to facilitate offering of diyas and performing the day-long bratas, dedicated by the elderly mothers. It’s why the temple road, beginning from the Mangala Temple and the whole premises of the shrine were bedecked with illuminating and colourful lights.
To make the environment more spiritual, Bhajan and Kirtan teams were invited to enthral the devotees with devotional songs and hymns dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. While, the local Sankirtan troupes performed Shiva Bhajans on the temple premises, Cultural Troup from Khordha, ‘Bhajan Bhakti Prathana’ enthralled the audience with their sweet and multilingual Bhajans, performed on the stage based on Lord Shiva and the Maha Shivaratri.
Late at night, the sacred Maha Deepa was placed atop the temple by the core servitors in the presence of thousands of devotees. Later, as the Maha Shivaratri rituals winded up, mass Prasad Sevan was enjoyed by the devotees in the Anand Bazar of the temple.
