Gold Coast (Australia), Aug 24: The only unofficial Test between visiting India A women and their Australian counterpart was slightly in favour of the hosts at Stumps on Day 3, at Kerrydale Oval, here on Saturday.
While the visitors still need 140 more runs to post a victory, Australia A women are just 4 wickets away from a win on the final day.
After Australia A skipper Charli Knott won the toss, the hosts scored 212 in their first innings and then restricted India A women to 184.
In their second innings, Australia A put up a much better effort and piled 260 runs. The visitors were given a 289 runs target.
But by close of third day's play, India A women had already lost six of their second innings wickets, allowing the Aussies to smell victory on the final day.
For the hosts, their overnight wicket-keeper batter Maddy Darke converted her 54 into an unbeaten 105 of 197 balls. Then the Aussie bowlers struck regularly to clinch a possible victory on the final day.
Her valiant effort took Australia A out of trouble, as they gathered to post 260 in the second innings. India ‘A’ captain Minnu Mani took 6/92 after clinching figures of 5-58 in the first essay.
