Malkangiri, July 20: Low pressure turned depression has triggered heavy rainfall in Odisha’s Malkangiri area.
Scores of bridges and main roads are reportedly submerged across the district causing a halt of traffic.
Even, vehicular communication between Malkangiri and Andhra Pradesh has been cut off after several bridges on NH 326 found submerged due to flashflood caused by the incessant rain due to low pressure over the Bay of Bengal.
Three low-lying bridges on the Highway were found submerged before the evening. Water is flowing four feet high on MV 96 bridge. A similar situation was also sighted at MV 90 bridge near Kangurukunda in the district where flood water is flowing three feet above the bridge.
On being informed the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) directed Collectors of the concerned districts to take stock of the matter and gear up for remedial measures, to normalize vehicular movements.
