Balangir, Aug 9: Villagers of Khuntpali affected by the Lower Suktel irrigation project are living a miserable life as the administration is yet to give compensation.
The local administration is asking them to leave their houses during incessant rain. However, they are yet to get compensation for displacement. The local administration is asking for proper documents for compensation.
Bhagaban Bhue of Khuntpali village works as an agricultural worker. Since the last month, he has been jobless as the farmlands have submerged in flood.
Bhagaban is suffering from skin disease and needs money for treatment. At this time flood due to the Lower Suktel project has put his family in misery. The displacement misery has overcome the pain of my disease. "I am workless for the last month and struggling for the livelihood of my family comprising my wife and a young daughter. I have no option to leave my house," said Bhagaban.
The plight of Bhagaban is very similar to several families of 29 villages going under the Lower Suktel project rehabilitation scheme having no proper document to get compensation.
There are eight families in Khuntpali village, who are struggling to gather the required documents for compensation and running from post to pillar, but in vain.
