Gwalior, August 25: A social media stunt intended as a romantic gesture proved costly for a Gwalior man after his girlfriend covered his car with around 3,400 lipstick marks.

The car had been seen driving through Gwalior’s City Centre area for two days before a video of it went viral on social media. Traffic police later traced the vehicle to the Thatipur area and summoned its owner.

According to Traffic Police Inspector Abhishek Raghuvanshi, the man was fined Rs 5,500 under the Motor Vehicles Act for modifying the appearance of the vehicle. Police also instructed him to remove all the lipstick marks from the car.

Car owner Aditya Sikarwar said his girlfriend had been inspired by a “foreign trend” and spent around three and a half hours decorating the vehicle with lipstick marks before posting a video online.

Sikarwar said he was unaware that the stunt could violate traffic regulations. Following the police action, he cleaned the entire car and paid the fine.

He also advised others not to undertake similar stunts if they could violate the law.
