Lord Balabhadra’s idol slipping: SJTA yet to form probe committee

Puri, July 29: Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) yet to form the three-member committee to probe the incident of Lord Balabhadra’s idol slipping on the makeshift staircase while being taken to the Gundicha temple from the chariot on July 9 evening.

A dozen servitors were injured in the mishap and SJTA chief administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee had said strict action would be taken in the matter following probe.

The three-member probe team was said to submit report within 10 days of Niladri Bije. According to the announcement the probe report was to be submitted before the chief administrator on July 29.

However, the SJTA has not formed the committee yet. Administrator (Niti), SJTA, Jitendra Kumar Sahoo said they have written to the Collector and SP for formation of the committee. The committee will be formed after the Collector and SP recommend name of an additional Collector and additional SP respectively. Administrator (Niti), SJTA will be a member of the committee.

The probe will begin after formation of the complete committee and then after the report will be handed over to the chief administrator, added Sahoo.
