Jajpur,August 29: In a major breakthrough, Korei Police in Jajpur district have busted a gang involved in a series of theft and loot cases, arresting five individuals and recovering gold ornaments weighing 150 grams, valued at over ₹17 lakh.
The arrested include four members of the looters' gang and one woman who had allegedly purchased the stolen gold. All five have been taken into custody and produced before the court.
The arrests follow investigations into recent thefts reported from Kahneipur and Santara areas, where valuables were stolen from two houses. Acting on the complaints, Korei Police registered cases and launched a detailed probe, which led to the identification and apprehension of the suspects.
The accused have been identified as Rabindra Patra of Laxminagar, Krishna Das, Shubham Ojha, and Mantu Munda of Jogisahi — all under Jajpur Road Police Station limits. The woman buyer has been identified as Ajmira Bibi from Maharam Sahi, also under the same police station.
Police have confirmed that the stolen gold ornaments, estimated to be worth more than ₹17 lakh, have been seized from the possession of the accused. Further investigation is underway.
