Kandhamal, Oct 30: In a shocking incident, a class VII student of Adarsha Vidyalaya in Dhobatota area of Phulbani in Odisha’s Kandhamal district died after accidentally swallowing a notice board pin.
The deceased has been identified as Tushar Mishra and he was staying at his maternal uncle’s residence in Phulbani.
As per reports, Tushar swallowed the pin during school hours on October 15. Soon after learning about it, his friends reported the matter to concerned class teacher and other staff members. However, it is alleged that the school authorities did not take the matter seriously and the class teacher asked him to continue classes after drinking water.
Upon returning home, Tushar informed about the incident to his grandfather following which he was taken to Cuttack Sishu Bhawan. Unfortunately, by the time doctors remove the pin, it was too late. Thereafter, he went into coma and died on October 26 while undergoing treatment.
His family members blamed the school authorities for Tushar’s death, alleging that if the school authorities had provided timely treatment Tushar could have been saved.
His parents have approached the district administration and demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
