Baripada, May 18: A tragic incident unfolded in Rangamatia village under the Bangiriposhi block of Mayurbhanj district on Friday, as lightning strikes resulted in the death of a minor girl and left three others severely injured.
The deceased has been identified as Jayasini Marandi (8), the daughter of Kandra Marandi and Sakara Marandi. Jayasini's elder sister, Jasmirani Marandi (10), sustained serious injuries in the lightning strike.
Moreover, Lukesh Tudu (6) and Anant Marandi (55) were also injured during the same incident.
All the victims were immediately taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Bangiriposhi. Tragically, Jayasini Marandi was declared dead by the doctor at the CHC. The other injured were subsequently transferred to the PRM Medical College & Hospital in Baripada after receiving initial medical treatment.
