Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: The lightning arrestor installed atop Lingaraj temple is not working properly, the servitors have alleged after experiencing an electric shock last evening.
Six servitors and some devotes were inside the sanctum sanctorum during the Sandhya Dhupa ritual of Shree Lingaraj on Friday evening. The Old Town area along with the Bhubaneswar city experienced heavy lightning and thunderstorms during this period. The servitors have alleged that they experienced electric shock inside the temple during the lightning.
Similarly, eight servitors and some devotees had allegedly experienced electric shock during lightning on July 31.
Following their experience, the servitors have alleged that the lightning protection system installed by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) has become defunct.
Notably, a lightning strike damaged the Rameshwar temple on July 15. The ASI has revealed that the Lightning arrestor was not installed atop the temple.
