Bhubaneswar, Nov 20: The Special Task Force ( STF) on Sunday seized the hides of two leopards and arrested one person in this connection in Odisha’s Nayagarh district.
Acting on a tip-off that deals of leopard skins were underway, the STF officials conducted raids in Daspalla area of Nayagarh district and caught the wildlife criminal along with two leopard skins.
The arrested accused has been identified as Baidyaraj Mallik of Baliberena of Nayagarh district.
The leopard hides were seized after the arrested person could not produce necessary documents in support.
“A case has been registered against him under various sections of the Wildlife Protection Act-1972 and the seized skins would be sent to the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) in Dehradun for laboratory tests”, said a STF official.
