Ganjam, April 8: Forest officials seized five leopard skins, a fishing cat skin, a leopard cat skin and 26.1 kg of pangolin scales from Ramgiri forest range under Paralakhemundi Forest Division on Monday.
Six wildlife peddlers were held in this connection.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Paralakhemundi S Anand, said the intelligence wing of the Forest Department on receiving reliable inputs regarding wildlife trafficking. Accordingly, a special team spied on it and cracked down a gang of wildlife peddlers who were striking a deal to sell out a huge cache of leopard hides and pangolin scale.
Further investigation into the case is underway to unearth the inter-state link of the racket, The DFO added.
