Baripada, May 17: After causing alarm in Baripada town in Mayurbhanj district, the forest department has successfully caught the leopard spotted roaming on Friday morning.
According to reliable sources, forest personnel tranquilized to subdue the leopard and safely confined it within a cage. The wild feline had ventured into the premises of Budhikhamaria Primary School.
Sources indicate that the leopard was sighted in the Bhanjapur area of the town, leading to the immediate deployment of forest department officials to conduct a thorough search operation.
Given the proximity of Baripada town to the Similipal National Park, instances of wild animals straying into residential areas are not uncommon.
A similar incident occurred when a leopard was sighted in Jagannathpur village along Lulung Road under the Baripada forest division in Mayurbhanj district.
