Bhubaneswar, Nov 8: A legal aid clinic and a driving training centre for the rehabilitation of the convicts at Biju Patnaik Open Air Ashram, Jamujhari was inaugurated today by Acting Chief Justice, High Court of Orissa and Executive Chairman, Odisha State Legal Services Authority (OSLSA) Cuttack DR. Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi.
On this occasion Registrar General, High Court of Orissa Sri Pratap Kumar Patra, Principal Secretary, Law Department Manas Ranjan Barik, Member Secretary, Odisha State Legal Services Authority Sudipta Acharya, Director General of Prisons, Odisha Amrit Mohan Prasad, Addl. D.G.-cum-Transport Commissioner, Amitabh Thakur, D.I.G., Prisons, Gariba Sahu, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Khurda Saudamini Singh, Assistant Secretary, Odisha State Legal Services Authority, Cuttack Srujan Saraswat along with other dignitaries were present.
Jail legal aid clinic at Jamujhari has been established by the OSLSA, Cuttack in collaboration with DLSA, Khurda with an aim to cater the legal needs of the convicts and to bridge the gap between the convicts and concerned departments and further to facilitate various benefits which are available to them under NALSA, SOP for premature release of convicts.
The driving training centre has been inaugurated at the instance of OSLSA, Cuttack in collaboration with Transport Department. This would rehabilitate the convicts aiming to step in to the society after their release and further in making them better human.
