Sambalpur, Jan 25: Hirakud International Half Marathon 2026 being organized by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) in collaboration with Sambalpur district administration will be held on February 15.
Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education officially announced the event at a special ceremony held at the company headquarters in Sambalpur. The official logo and t-shirt was also unveiled on this occasion.
The marathon will take place at the iconic Hirakud Dam-the largest earthen dam in Asia. Elite and amateur runners from the nation and across the globe are expected to participate in the marathon.
Suryabanshi Suraj, Odisha Sports and Youth services Minister; IG- Northern Division; Collector, Sambalpur; SP, Sambalpur, other state govt officials, MCL officials and a large number of school students were present on this occasion.
