Bhubaneswar, December 4: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid floral tributes to renowned freedom fighter and social reformer Rama Devi Choudhury on the occasion of her 125th birth anniversary at the Legislative Assembly in Bhubaneswar.

The ceremony was attended by Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Minister Mukesh Mahaling, and other prominent BJD leaders, all honoring the legacy of the iconic leader, fondly known as "Maa Rama Devi."

In her address, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida emphasized the timeless relevance of Rama Devi's values. "It is a matter of great pride that Odisha is celebrating the 125th birth anniversary of Rama Devi," she remarked. Reflecting on the freedom fighter’s role in India’s struggle against British rule, Parida recalled her strong stance for the country’s independence and her guiding principle of "Nation first, individual last." She also urged the youth of Odisha to carry forward her legacy by contributing to the state's development, saying, "The younger generation should actively participate in shaping a prosperous Odisha."
