Bhubaneswar, November 24, 2025: As part of the ongoing Zero Fatality Fortnight road safety initiative, the Central Range Police launched an intensive Naka and patrolling operation on November 23, 2025. The operation, under Operation Thunder, led to the inspection of 1,769 vehicles across seven districts and the collection of ₹6.65 lakh in fines for various traffic violations, as reported by Dr. Satyajit Naik, DIG of Central Range, Cuttack.

The vehicle inspections were conducted across the districts of Puri, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Khordha, Nayagarh, Jajpur, and Jagatsinghpur. Among these, Puri and Nayagarh recorded the highest number of vehicle checks, with 540 and 593 vehicles inspected, respectively. Notably, Khordha, despite having only 60 vehicle inspections, reported the highest fine collection of ₹3.68 lakh, suggesting either stricter enforcement or higher penalties for violations detected in the district.

In addition to Khordha, Jajpur, and Kendrapara, also saw significant activity, with 336 and 163 vehicles checked, resulting in ₹42,500 and ₹9,000 in fines, respectively. The drive, which focused on curbing road accidents and enhancing road safety, is part of the state’s broader efforts to promote safer mobility and increase public compliance with traffic laws during the Zero Fatality Fortnight campaign.

Officials have emphasized that the Central Range Police will continue to intensify enforcement measures in order to reduce traffic violations, create stronger deterrence, and promote safety across all districts. The operation will remain ongoing with an emphasis on ensuring compliance and public safety.
